Children’s Summer Camp – Operation Camouflage – Sign Up Now

The long summer holidays are almost upon us – and if your looking for something more organised for the kids to do  it might be worth signing them up for Operation Camouflage – a military themed week of action packed activities taking place at Rock Barracks near Woodbridge

 Running from Monday 12th August to Thursday 15th August 2019 at Rock Barracks, Sutton – the home of 23 Parachute Engineer Regiment,  this is for young people aged between 8 – 16 years from East Suffolk and young people from military families based at Colchester, Watisham and Woodbridge.

The scheme recently won the ‘Suffolk Strengthen Your Community’ award at the Suffolk High Sheriff Awards for the partnership working between the Council and the Army Welfare Team.

There will be no marching or spit and polish, but lots of fun-filled activities, including climbing, laser tag, dodgeball, bush craft, first aid skills, forensic science and much more.

Cllr Letitia Smith, East Suffolk Cabinet Member for Communities, Leisure and Tourism, said: “Operation Camouflage is a fantastic event for children to take part in during the summer and we have seen it grow year on year.

“Our partnership with the Army means that we can bring together young people from very different backgrounds and help them tackle challenges and learn new skills in a positive and safe environment,

Operation Camouflage takes place at the Rock Barracks Army base at Sutton Heath, near Woodbridge.

Young people need to be dropped off and collected from the Alan Crompton Hall outside the barracks every day.

It costs £90 for the four days which includes all kit, activities and lunch.

Children must be able to attend all four days (Monday – Thursday) 9am – 4.45pm and take paert in a variety of physical activities and challenges as part of a team.

Children must wear comfortable clothes, such as tracksuit bottoms and t-shirt. Two pairs of trainers are needed for indoor and outdoor activities.
