The High Sheriff of Suffolk, Geoffrey Probert, has launched the 2018 High Sheriff’s Awards and is calling for voluntary groups and individuals to submit their entries for the annual community awards. The High Sheriff’s Awards are designed to reward the volunteers, charities and community groups in Suffolk who devote their time and energy to improve the communities in which they live and work, to make Suffolk a better and safer place to live.
The deadline for nominations is 8th January 2018. Winners will receive a trophy & a cash contribution to their voluntary group.

There are seven award categories:
Suffolk Inspiring Leader Award The High Sheriff’s Suffolk Inspiring Leader Award encourages voluntary organisations, charities and community groups across Suffolk to recognise and nominate a leader of a voluntary organisation who for several years has demonstrated exceptional vision and leadership.
Suffolk Young Volunteer of the Year Award The High Sheriff’s Suffolk Young Volunteer of the Year Award encourages voluntary organisations, charities and community groups across Suffolk to nominate one of their young volunteers for special recognition of services above and beyond the ‘call of duty’. This will recognise an under 25-year-old who has demonstrated a strong and ongoing commitment to supporting others.
Suffolk Collaborative Partnership Award The High Sheriff’s Collaborative Partnership Award will celebrate an enterprise that has benefited the community and been enabled by seamless collaboration between the voluntary and/or statutory and/or private sectors.
Suffolk Rebuilding Broken Lives Award The High Sheriff’s Suffolk Rebuilding Broken Lives Award recognises a voluntary organisation that demonstrates exceptional impact in helping the victims of crime, abuse, addiction and deprivation or those who have taken a wrong turn to rebuild their lives.
Suffolk Inspiring Young People Award The High Sheriff’s Suffolk Inspiring Young People Award recognises a voluntary organisation that demonstrates exceptional impact in enabling young and disadvantaged people to aspire and to realise their full potential.
Suffolk Strengthen Your Community Award The High Sheriff’s Strengthen Your Community Award recognises the voluntary organisation, community group or charity that has tackled social isolation & made their community, town or Suffolk itself, more cohesive, more inclusive and/or a safer place to live.
Suffolk Heritage Award The High Sheriff’s Suffolk Heritage Award recognises and rewards a society, voluntary group or other organisation that cherishes Suffolk’s history, heritage or built environment and that helps people access & understand that heritage.
Last entries by Monday 8th January. The winners will be announced on Thursday 15th February.
