What’s On Stage In Felixstowe – August 2017

August has been traditionally a rather quite month but this year an exciting new Arts Fest opens – and there are lots of other entertainment to keep your summer days and evenings going with a buzz

Every Wednesday Music in Felixstowe present the Young Musicians’ Series at 12noon in St. Andrew’s Church, St. Andrew’s Road

2nd : Isabella Pincombe (oboe), accompanied by Harrison Cole. 9th : Jack Gionis (trumpet). 16th: Gina McDonald (piano). 23rd : Eleanor Retey (cello) and Imogen Retey (singer).

Tea and coffee provided. Bring your own lunch! Admission free. Collection on door

On Thursday 3rd  and Thursday 17th The Spa presents The Great British Seaside Special at 2.15pm

This fabulous show takes you on a whirlwind tour of Great British Variety from the past six decades and beyond… Featuring a superb cast of nine, providing two hours of pure non-stop entertainment Comedy, music, dance and magic, plus much, much more…

From Friday 4th – Sunday 6th Felixstowe Creative Arts Trust (F-CAT) present Felixstowe Arts Fest at Two Sisters Arts Centre (St Mary’s Church, Trimley)

Programme: Friday 4th (2.30pm): Poetry Workshop with Beth Soule – Of Legends and Angels. £5.00. Friday 4th (6pm): Early Evening Poetry Reading – Suffolk in Poetry, plus Open Mic. £5.00. Friday 4th (8pm): Horizon Theatre presents ‘MAMIL’ by Gregory Cooper. £10.00. Saturday 5th (7pm): Invite Only Launch Event. Sunday 6th (9am): Rapscallion Theatre Youth Drama Workshop – ‘A Musical in a Morning’. Suitable for 8-18 year olds. £10.00. Sunday 6th (7pm): Music in Felixstowe present Show Songs Prom. £10.00.

Throughout the weekend (10am-4pm) – Time & Tides: an exhibition by local artists. Admission free.

Also from 5th-6th The Hand’s Charity Mini Music Festival takes place at The Hand in Hand public house, Trimley St. Martin

Great line up of live music, including Tia Dartnell, Solomon Holmes, Peter Hepworth, Meg Hughes, Daniel Jacklin, Fern Teather, Craig Lucas, James Nunn, Nate Mountain and The Gussie Stafford Band.

Also stalls, children’s activities, food and drink. Starts 2pm on Saturday, 1pm on Sunday.

Raising money for ‘Fresh Start – New Beginnings’. Admission free.

On Saturday 12th The Spa presents The Music from the Boats that Rocked at 7.30pm

Star pirate radio DJ Tom Edwards presents an evening of music from the Golden Era of Radio when the BBC was ignoring pop music and the Pirates ruled the airwaves.

On Sunday 20th The Orwell Hotel host a Garden Party  featuring  light jazz from Stephanie Mackentyre and Steve Rhodes from 12.30 – 3.30pm

On Sunday 27th at 3pm in St Nicholas Church Music in Felixstowe present  String Quartet Prom with Quartetto Familia

Concert with Nicholas Ward and Rebecca Scott (violins), Robert Smissen (viola), Harriet Bennett (cello) and Cliff Wybrow (clarinet). featuring Beethoven quartet in A Minor op 132. Brahms clarinet quintet op.115. Wolf Italian Serenade in G major.

Admission £12.00 (including Pimms). Children free. Advance booking recommended.

And finally on Wednesday 30th at 12 noon in St Andrews Church Music in Felixstowe  present  Bach + 1 Prom

Concert with Nicholas Ward (violin) and Robert Smissen (viola). Featuring Bach Sonata no. 3 in C and Mozart Duo in B flat K424. Admission free. Collection on door.
