Suffolk Armed Forces Weekend on 24th and 25th of June is to host a two day free music festival as part of a range of events to celebrate the military from the past to he present. Hosted by Suffolk Coastal District Council on Saturday and Sunday, 24 and 25 June, the action-packed weekend will recognise the huge contribution made by our servicemen and women over the years – it will also mark the 350th anniversary of the Dutch attack on Landguard Fort.
During the day on Saturday there will be sets by the Wattisham Military Wives Choir and The Royal Hospital School Band; then in the evening the main stage (sponsored by Felixstowe Town Council) at the Beachside Events Area plays host to Silbury Hill, Rick Wright, plus two of the UK’s top tribute acts – The Hot Red Chilli Peppers and The Los Palmas 6 (Madness) – all leading up to a spectacular firework display on the seafront at around 11pm.
On Sunday, Landguard Fort will welcome the renowned Band of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines Collingwood. They will perform during the afternoon, including an atmospheric Sunset Parade to bring Suffolk Armed Forces Weekend 2017 to a fitting end.
The SAFW Official Event Guide is also now live at www.visitfelixstowe.org.uk/suffolk-armed-forces-weekend It provides all the information you need to enjoy the weekend, including the timetable for each day, useful travel information and much more.
