The thirteenth annual Art on the Prom will take place on Sunday September 4th from 10am-4pm on the sea front from the Pier to the Spa Gardens.
Art on the Prom is a free community event which attracts over 20,000 people. As well as the opportunity to browse or buy original artworks, the free art activity tents, which run throughout the day, provide anyone and everyone with the chance to have a go at creating their own piece in one of the many media available.
Whether you are interested in painting, drawing, ceramics, prints or textiles you are bound to find something to attract you at one of the artist stalls. Held along Felixstowe’s beautiful seafront, over 100 artists from East Anglia and beyond will be displaying and selling original artwork in a wide variety of media, including painting, ceramics, glass, photography and textiles.
Free art activity tents, led by local artists, offering children and adults the opportunity to have-a-go at making art (including painting, willow-sculpturing, clay-tile decorating) will be available. Young and old can drop in at any time between 10am and 3.30pm to have a go at using a range of art media. The workshops are led by friendly professional artists and all materials are provided free. There are facilities to support participants with disabilities
Live music and entertainment, including the Danegeld Morris Dancers (performance and fun workshop), Skidaddle Ceilidh Band, Ipswich Hospital Band, Tutti Frutti Voices and the cheerleaders from Team Spirit will also be happening throughout the day.
Following on from the successful Hog Roast, International Food Stall and Fairtrade Stall there will be a variety of different food outlets available, plus the ever popular Xpresso Coffee stall.
Art on the Prom is supported by grants from local councils as well as sponsorship from local businesses. It is a non-profit making organisation which aims to promote economic well-being, provide cultural and leisure opportunities and foster a pride in our community.
