What’s On In August

Well, the summer holidays have arrived, and although the weather might not have got the message – there’s plenty going on in Felixstowe to keep you entertained.

At the Spa Suzie Lowe takes on the summer slot with three different shows presented with the Dennis Lowe Theatre Company, a hugely talented West End cast and supported by local theatre schools .

On Saturday 6th at 7.30pm, Thursday 11th at 7.30pm and Sunday 14th at 7.30pm is Magic of The Musicals.

On Thursday 4th at 2pm, Sunday 7th at 7pm and Saturday 13th at 2pm and 6pm is Jukebox Memories.

And on Wednesday 10th  at 2pm  is Uptown Funk Party!

On Wednesday 3rd August at 1pm, St Andrew’s Church, Felixstowe: Music in Felixstowe present  a Young Musicians Lunchtime Concert with Charlie Green –  singer and double bassist. Admission free, collection on the door.

On Friday 5th  at Best Western Brook Hotel  from 7pm – 11.30pm is the Felixstowe Mayor’s Charity Dinner Dance in aid of the Mayor’s charities – Level Two Youth Project and Guide Dogs.

On Wednesday 10th August at 1pm, St Andrew’s Church, Felixstowe: Music in Felixstowe present  Verity Poulston, jazz singer and Harrison Perkins, saxophone accompanied by Harrison Cole. Admission free, collection on the door.

On Saturday 13th at The Orwell Hotel from 7pm are J.S. and The Lockerbillies

A fabulous evening of rockabilly music and dancing including a two course set menu£27.50 per person. Pre-booking essential. 01394 285511.

On Sunday 14th at Trimley Sports and Social Club, there is Evie’s Voice – Annual Family Fun Day from 12pm – 5pm

Stalls, Town102, live music, donkey rides, birds of prey, bouncy castle, entertainment and refreshments. Information on deaf awareness.

The charity is based around deaf children and their families who use sign language as their primary form of communication.  Admission free.

On Wednesday 17th at 1pm, St Andrew’s Church, Felixstowe another Young Musicians Lunchtime Concert – The Trout Quintet performed by musicians from Woodbridge School: Rosie Greenway, Will Emery, Tristan Hilger, Charlie Green and Harrison Cole. Admission free, collection on the door.

On Thursday 18th Joe Pasquale is at the Spa at 7.30pm

Comedian Joe Pasquale has continued to delight audiences with his live stand-up tours for 20 years. Along the way he’s voiced characters for Hollywood movies Garfield: A Tale of Two Kitties and Horton Hears A Who!

On Sunday 21st at 3pm, St Nicholas Church, Felixstowe Ferry MUSIC IN FELIXSTOWE  present Quartetto FamiliaNicholas Ward and Rebecca Scott, violins, Robert Smissen viola, Harriet Bennett cello. Verdi String Quartet, Beethoven Quartet op 131, Haydn Quartet op 20 no 6. Admission £12, children free – booking advisable.  Tickets from Stillwater Books and on 01394 670633.

And on Wednesday 24th at 1pm, St Andrew’s Church, Felixstowe another Young Musicians Lunchtime Concert features Mary Armitage saxophonist. Admission free, collection on the door.

On Sunday 28th the Spa has Jimmy Cricket – Great Value for a Tenner Comedy Show at 7pm

The much loved Irish Comedian, Jimmy Cricket, will return to Felixstowe with his family-friendly laughter show for one evening only.

Jimmy will arrive equipped with one-liners galore, a sprinkling of visual comedy and, yes, that ever present letter from his mammy! On offer is a comedy master class delivered by a legendary entertainer everyone has come to know.

And there’s more; tickets for the show will be at the incredibly affordable price of £10 and £5 (under 16’s). So for a tenner you can grab a bunch of chuckles with a comedian who really can claim to have had people in stitches for years!

Also on 28th there is Live Music at The Fludyers with popular vocalist  Casper Clarke from 8.30pm Admission free.
